This Wellness Spaw is a dream come true for me.

As a child I was obsessed with dogs, in every aspect.
At the age of 12 I was determined to volunteer with dogs, most places required you to be 18. I called every number in the phone book under kennel until a lovely couple answered the phone and welcomed me to their home and business every Saturday morning. A year later Cathie wanted me to become her groomer, she started paying me and the next year I spent my summer at Pet's Beautiful School of Styling. At 14 they accepted me into their program and I have been lucky enough to maintain that relationship, returning for continuing education many times over the years. Although I did go off path for a couple years to go to Ryerson University for a couple years to pursue a business degree in finance. During that time I realized my life was meant for the dogs when I adopted Dolce from the Toronto Humane Society. The border collie my dad told me not to get guided my path into amazing dog training experiences in agility and lead me to meet many talented trainers. He showed me that happiness came with a wagging tail and the busy city, apartment life was not for us. We moved back home, I started dating the man of my dreams and started Cassie's Canines two years later out of our house.

Now it's 2023, 18 years later working with the dogs and I am opening the Wellness Spaw I wrote about in one of my entrepreneurial classes. Something I thought would always be just a dream is becoming my new reality and I hope I never stop chasing my dreams. I am so excited for this new beginning and I have my amazing husband to thank for supporting my dream and bringing it to life.

I know my 12 year old self would be very proud.

Scotia

Cassie is SO excited to have Scotia joining the Wellness Spaw team! She has incredible talent as a groomer and that special connection with the animals that money simply can't buy!

Scotia was lucky enough to have animal loving parents. When she was young her parents would take in fertilized eggs, hatch them in incubators then sell them back to the farms once they began growing their feathers.
When Scotia was 5 an 'ugly duckling' hatched unable to walk, with a neck bent at a 90 degree angle. Her parents were sure this would be the opportunity to teach Scotia about death but Scotia had other ideas! On her own accord she dedicated everyday to slowly stretching the duckling's neck and using her fingers and hands to help him walk. She did this while hand feeding him every day until he built up enough strength to walk by himself and hold his head up straight. In the end he ended up looking like any other duck and survived into adulthood. Her compassion and dedication to the well being of all animals is unmatched.
Scotia has continued her rehabilitation skills later in life with a variety of other animals including squirrels, bats, birds and turtles! As she entered into adulthood she opened her home to fostering and has been sharing her home with at least one foster since 2016.
As an adult she started out working at a pet store soaking up all the nutrition knowledge she could from a variety of brand reps as well as taking third party pet nutrition courses.
In 2018 she attended Pets Beautiful School of Styling and has been working full time as a groomer ever since. She demonstrates amazing talent as a stylist and strives to alleviate uncomfortable skin conditions with all the resources we have to offer. She constantly seeks out opportunities to continue her education within the industry including grooming & promoting overall wellness in our pets through nutrition and topical products.
We are so lucky to have Scotia and know you will love her as much as we do!
